Delete your Nibl account

You can delete your Nibl account and its data at any time, in the app or by emailing us.

This page explains how to delete your account in Nibl, the home-cooking app made by [Company legal name], and what happens to your data when you do.

Delete it in the app

  1. Open Nibl and go to your Profile (the last tab).
  2. Tap the Settings gear at the top right.
  3. Scroll down to Account actions and tap Delete account.
  4. Tap Delete permanently to confirm. If you signed up with Apple, you'll confirm with Apple too.

Your account is deleted immediately and you're signed out.

Request deletion without the app

If you no longer have the app or can't sign in, email support@niblapp.com with the subject "Delete my Nibl account". Please include:

  • your Nibl username;
  • the email address or mobile number on your account, if it has one;
  • how you signed up (username and password, Apple, or Google).

To confirm the account is yours:

  • If you signed up with Apple or Google, send the email from the address of that Apple or Google account.
  • If your account has an email address (Settings → Email & phone), send it from that address.
  • If your account only has a mobile number, include it and we'll text a code to that number for you to send back to us.
  • If none of these work, we'll ask you a few questions to confirm it's yours (for example, about recent dishes you posted) before deleting it.

We never ask for your password.

We'll confirm by email once your account is deleted, within [30 days] of verifying your request.

What's deleted

Deleting your account permanently removes:

  • your account, sign-in details, username and profile (name, bio, photo, food preferences, onboarding answers and settings);
  • your email address and mobile number;
  • all your dishes and their photos, including unranked drafts;
  • all your recipes and their photos;
  • your ratings, personal ranking and comparison history;
  • your comments, likes, saves and celebrations;
  • your followers, the people you follow, follow requests and blocks;
  • your notifications and push notification tokens;
  • reports you've made, and records we kept for rate limits.

This can't be undone, and a deleted account can't be recovered.

What's kept, and for how long

  • Recipes other people have cooked. If someone else posted their own dish of one of your recipes, they get their own copy of that recipe (title, ingredients, steps, tags and times, without your photos), so their dish isn't lost. That copy belongs to them and isn't linked to you.
  • Things you shared outside Nibl, such as share cards you sent to other apps, are outside our control.
  • Reports about you or your content that other people made may be kept for up to [retention period] to keep Nibl safe and to meet legal obligations.
  • Backups and logs. Deleted data may remain in encrypted backups and server logs for up to [backup / log retention period] before it's automatically overwritten.
  • Custom tags. The name of any new tag you created stays in Nibl's shared tag list for everyone to use. The record that you created it is deleted.
  • Sign-in and code records. Records of verification codes, sign-ins with an email address and password-reset requests (with the IP address they came from) may be kept for up to [code and request log retention period] to prevent abuse.
  • Legal holds. If the law requires us to keep certain information (for example, to respond to a valid legal request, or because content was reported to authorities such as NCMEC), we keep only that information, only for as long as required.
  • Recipe import cache. If you imported a recipe from a website, the facts extracted from that public page (not linked to you) may stay cached for other people who import the same link.

Just want to delete some things?

  • Delete a single dish from the ⋯ menu on it.
  • Delete a comment by pressing and holding it.
  • Make your account private in Settings so only approved followers see your dishes and recipes.
